North Sea Midstream Partners (NSMP) is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement to acquire Total’s 67% operated interest in the SIRGE gas pipeline and its 100% operated interests in the Frigg UK pipeline and St. Fergus Gas Terminal. Following completion of the sale, which is subject to regulatory and other customary approvals, the systems will be operated on behalf of NSMP by our long term operating partner, px Group, who already operate NSMP’s Teesside Gas Processing Plant.
NSMP CEO, Andy Heppel said:

“We are very excited to be acquiring these key assets from Total. We see midstream infrastructure as crucial to the longevity of the North Sea and firmly believe that the independent ownership of such infrastructure can help maximise the ultimate economic recovery of the UKCS’s oil and gas reserves, consistent with the findings of the Wood Review.” He added “Total remains a major owner of fields feeding into this infrastructure including the Laggan/Tormore and Martin Linge new developments. We look forward to working with Total and the other field owners and operators to provide a safe, reliable and cost effective gas transportation and processing service for the long term. In the interim we will be working closely with Total, px Group and directly affected staff to ensure a smooth transition of operations.”

The Frigg UK Pipeline (FUKA) is a 362 km, 32” gas pipeline that was originally constructed to connect the Frigg Field on the UK/ Norway median line to the St. Fergus Gas Terminal in Scotland. The Frigg Field is now decommissioned but the FUKA pipeline is still operational, transporting gas from some 20 fields in the Northern North Sea to the terminal at St Fergus. The recently constructed 30” 234 km Shetland Islands Regional Gas Export System (SIRGES) is a major new gas export system from the prospective West of Shetlands area. It will connect the Total operated Shetland Gas Processing Plant to the FUKA pipeline and will transport gas initially from the Greater Laggan Area West of Shetland, which includes the Total operated Laggan and Tormore fields.
