Baltic Sea Pipeline Link (OPAL) Now Part Of Gascade

With the entry in the commercial register on August 31, 2023, the 80 percent fractional ownership of W & G Transport Holding GmbH (WGTH) in the Baltic Sea Pipeline Link (OPAL) was transferred to GASCADE Gastransport GmbH (GASCADE) by way of spin-off of the regulated part of the operation.

The fractional ownership part of WGTH, which, until June 30, 2023, was partially exempt from regulation, has been operated since its commissioning at the end of 2011 by OPAL Gastransport GmbH & Co. KG (OGT), which has also marketed its share of OPAL's transport capacity. Following the decision by the Federal Network Agency to revoke the partial exemption from regulation granted to OGT in 2009, WGTH's former OPAL fractional ownership share has been fully regulated since July 1, 2023. The transfer of the now fully regulated operations to GASCADE, a certified independent transmission operator, takes this into account. GASCADE's pipeline system is now more than 3,700 kilometers long.

In addition to GASCADE (80 percent), the fractional owner of OPAL is Lubmin-Brandov Gastransport GmbH, Essen (20 percent), which belongs to Uniper Global Commodities SE, Düsseldorf. From the starting point in Lubmin near Greifswald, the pipeline runs through Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg and Saxony over 473 kilometers to the German-Czech border near Olbernhau.

Centrica LNG cargo commissions the first private LNG terminal in Brazil

25 February 2020 Centrica plc and Centrais Elétricas de Sergipe S.A. (CELSE) have collaborated to commission the first private Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import terminal in Brazil. On 4 February, Centrica-chartered vessel, the Singapore Energy, delivered 95,000m3 of LNG by a ship-to-ship operation to the Golar Nanook Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) located 8.5km off the coast. The FRSU is connected by pipeline to CELSE’s Usina Termoelétrica (UTE) Porto de Sergipe I combined-cycle gas-fired power plant, the largest in Latin America.

Eni sells to Mubadala Petroleum a 10% stake in the Shorouk concession, offshore Egypt

11 March 2018  Eni has agreed to sell to Mubadala Petroleum, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, a 10% stake in the Shorouk concession, offshore Egypt, where Zohr's super-giant gas field is located. Eni, through its subsidiary IEOC, currently holds a 60% stake, while the other partners are Rosneft with 30% and BP with 10%. The agreed consideration is 934 million US dollars. The completion of the transaction is subject to the fulfillment of certain standard conditions, including all necessary authorizations from Egypt’s authorities. The Zohr super-giant gas field was successfully started-up in December 2017, in only 28 months after its discovery, and is currently producing 400 million scf per day.
