The Civil Works for the Storage Tank of Longkou LNG Project Kicks off Successfully

2021-03-03

On March 1, the civil works for storage tank for Longkou LNG Terminal Project Phase I (hereinafter referred to as "Longkou LNG Project") officially commenced, which provides a strong guarantee for the completion of the gas lift target by the end of the year.

The Longkou LNG Project is the first terminal project since the establishment of PipeChina. It is a key project for the interconnection of national natural gas infrastructures, a key project for the production, supply, storage and marketing of the Circum-Bohai-Sea, and a key project for the conversion of new and old kinetic energy in Shandong Province. The smooth progress of the project has a significant and far-reaching effect on the development of the PipeChina and energy reform in Shandong Province.

The LNG Project Phase I will provide a capacity of 5 million tons/year, including one dedicated LNG loading and unloading terminal (maximum berthing of 266,000m3 ships), six 220,000m3 LNG storage tanks, supporting gasification & export equipment, utility system, etc.

The company's project team has continuously overcome various technical problems such as frequent hole collapses in the pile foundation construction process due to complicated geological conditions, and concrete construction in winter. As of today, 1220 storage tank piles have been completed, accounting for 84.7% of the total number of foundation piles, completing the construction objective ahead of the project plan, and providing a good case for reference by the construction of other LNG terminals.
