Woodside Awards Subsea Integration Alliance EPCI Contract for Sangomar Field Development Offshore Senegal

1/10/2020

Woodside awards Subsea Integration Alliance an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract for the Sangomar Field Development project offshore Senegal. The project involves the development of the Sangomar oil field. The Sangomar field is a deepwater oil field located 100 km south of Dakar.

The project work scope includes the EPCI of subsea production systems (SPS) and a subsea umbilical, riser and flowline (SURF) system. The development will include 23 wells in a water depth between 650 m and 1400 m. Offshore installation activities are scheduled from 2021 to 2023 using Subsea 7’s reel-lay, flex-lay and light construction vessels. First oil production is expected in early 2023.

Through this contract, Subsea 7 will provide 107 km of rigid flowlines, 28 km of flexible risers and jumpers, and 45 km of umbilicals. OneSubsea®—the subsea technologies, production and processing systems division of Schlumberger—will supply a portfolio of standard systems including 23 wellhead systems, 11 subsea production trees, 10 water injection trees, 2 gas injection trees, topside controls and intervention tools and life-of-field support. The engineering will be performed across OneSubsea’s global network of facilities.

“Early engagement and close collaboration between Woodside and Subsea Integration Alliance helped Woodside define the optimum development plan,” said Henning Berg, CEO of Subsea Integration Alliance LLC. “Now in the EPCI phase, we will support Woodside in maximizing the Sangomar Field Development’s potential through our access to an extensive portfolio of technologies and services designed to reduce the number of interfaces, lower costs and streamline schedules and our integrated project delivery.”

“Subsea 7 and OneSubsea, through our Subsea Integration Alliance, have been working closely with Woodside since before the FEED award,” said Stuart Fitzgerald, Deputy CEO of Subsea Integration Alliance LLC. “This award reflects our successful experience of previous projects delivered by the alliance and a great relationship built over many years with Woodside.”

In December 2018, Woodside awarded the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract to Subsea Integration Alliance for the Sangomar Field. The Subsea Integration Alliance project management team established during FEED will now transition into the full EPCI phase based at Subsea 7 Global Projects Centre (GPC) in Sutton. SURF engineering will be performed by Subsea 7 GPC centres in Sutton and Suresnes. Subsea Production System (SPS) engineering will be performed across the OneSubsea global network of facilities. A base in Senegal will support the offshore campaign and conduct site receival testing and equipment storage.

Phase 1 of the development will target an estimated 231 MMbbl of oil resources from the lower, less complex reservoirs, and an initial pilot phase in the upper reservoirs.
