Platform P-74 arrives at the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt

5th March 2018

The platform vessel P-74 arrived, this Saturday (3/3), at the Búzios field in the Santos Basin pre-salt layer. The forecast is that it starts operating in the first half of this year. This project has a similar design to the others already in operation by Petrobras in the Santos Basin pre-salt and has been incorporating all the company's improvements and experiences. Given its complexity, however, Búzios represents a unique challenge in the oil exploration and production segment.

The P-74 is part of the first definitive system that will produce the main area under the Assignment of Rights contract, carried out in 2010. In this way, Búzios, whose commerciality was declared in December 2013, will start operating in less than 8 years after signing the contract.
It will be the first of a series of seven platforms scheduled to start operating in Brazil in 2018, aimed at growing the company's production curve within the horizon of the Business and Management Plan (PNG) 2018-2022.

In addition to the P-74, four other units are scheduled for this field on the horizon in PNG: P-75 and P-76 (for the second half of this year); P-77 (2019) and Búzios 5 (2021). Each one will have the capacity to process up to 150,000 barrels of oil and 7 million m3 of gas daily.

“There is no doubt that we are facing yet another important project for our company, which will play a decisive role in our recovery and in our production curve", said Exploration and Production director, Solange Guedes. "The five production systems of this field will be able to add 750 thousand barrels per day to the company's installed capacity, when they are at full load. Together, these projects will produce during their useful life the volume contracted in the Assignment of Rights for the Búzios field, which is very significant”, said the director. The current forecast, which is included in the contract signed in 2010, forecasts more than 3 billion barrels.

Platform P-74
Of the FPSO type (unit that produces, stores and transfers oil), this unit will be anchored around 200 km from the coast, positioned at a water depth of 2,000 meters. The platform will be connected to 9 producing wells.
