Costain awarded FEED study contract for Tolmount gas onshore plant at Dimlington

Costain will conduct a front-end engineering and design (FEED) study for onshore plant to receive gas from a new sub-sea pipeline in Dimlington, on the East Yorkshire coast. The gas will come from the Tolmount gas field, one of the largest discoveries in the Southern Gas Basin in recent years. The Tolmount field is jointly owned by Premier Oil (50%) and Dana Petroleum (50%).
The Costain front-end services team, based in Manchester and Aberdeen, has been providing consultancy on the development of the Tolmount project since the discovery of the field. The team was involved in concept development and appraisal for the offshore and onshore facilities. Under the new contract, Costain engineers will develop their concept design for the onshore scope through to a robust FEED solution, which can then be progressed through to the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) stage.
The FEED study will propose the safest and most efficient way to receive and process natural gas from a new pipeline, drawing gas from the Tolmount fields, via the existing treatment plant on the Dimlington Terminal site. The solution will receive the pipeline output, separate the liquid hydrocarbons for processing and export conditioned gas to the NTS. The design will include a new system of condensate stabilisation and methanol recovery units to handle the recovered liquids, as well as a hot oil system to provide heat to both.
